Symbolism of name
- Francesca’s name is of European origin and means free, but in the novel, her character is not free. For example where she is made to go to a school where she doesn’t want to be. It was good that the author chose a European name as the main character Francesca is a part of an Italian family.
Speech
- Francesca’s speech consists of ‘smart arse’ remarks about others and some sarcastic comments but when she speaks about her mother she’s very mature about the situation. She has a mature talk yet sometimes immature by saying things such as “der-brain” and “Flobbing-her-head-off”
Appearance
- Francesca is a 16 year old female who has brown hair and is thin. She looks very mature but then can also have a sad and depressed look.
Actions
Most of Francesca’s actions revolve around her and finding out who she really is, who are friends really are and how to express herself.
Other
- Francesca is a person who hides her feelings and is always worrying about what others are thinking.
