Symbolism of name
- Francesca’s name is of European origin and means free, but in the novel, her character is not free. For example where she is made to go to a school where she doesn’t want to be. It was good that the author chose a European name as the main character Francesca is a part of an Italian family.

- Francesca is a 16 year old female who has brown hair and is thin. She looks very mature but then can also have a sad and depressed look.

Most of Francesca’s actions revolve around her and finding out who she really is, who are friends really are and how to express herself.
